It's that time of year where we see and think APPLES~ Making your own apple butter is so easy. I went to the local Mennonites and purchased a large bag of Gala apples. I peeled them.. cut the cores out and put them in the crock pot on high heat. I added some brown sugar, covered them and let them cook for about 8 hours. I started them early in the morning, or you can let them cook over night. What ever works for you~ The house was smelling lovely! When I opened the crock pot they were soft with some bubbly juice. Using a potato masher, I mashed the apples, then with my immersion blender I blended until smooth. I added a drop of Young Living Cinnamon Bark and Clove essential oils,(click here to order oils). Oh my.. that was just what it needed. I cooked for an additional two hours on high, uncovered. It turns very dark brown and is spreadable. You can just keep in the fridge for a month or so, or can them in a water bath canner. My family thought this was the best thing in the world. They ate it with a spoon right from the crock pot.. put it on toast, ice cream, and anything they thought of....
